The youths should take up leadership roles through Innovative Ideas
In continuation of the process of reform of the police force, the VP made a firm the proportion for the integration of young people in the new take of repositioning society, he also noted that certainly, we cannot afford to alienate our young people who constitute the majority of our society.
Based
on the fact that the VP believes that “Nigeria is blessed with an energetic and
resourceful youth population that could partner global technology giants to
excel in any field”, alienating youths who are over 60 per cent of the nation’s population would not be in the best interest of the nation.
Alienation
is simply put as neglecting, alienation occurs when a person withdraws or
becomes isolated from their environment or from other people. People who show
symptoms of alienation will often reject loved ones or society, they may also
show feelings of distance and estrangement.
Youth
involvement in government, policymaking, innovation, creativity is the solution to such alienation in every society and nation based on the VP’s firm
proportion for the integration of young people in the new take of repositioning
society.
This
commitment of the VP can be seen in the creation of states’ Judicial Panel of
Inquiry to prosecute erring officers and to compensate victims of police
brutality in which youth and student representative was made compulsory in
the formation of each panel.
Also,
NEC under her leadership of Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo,
constituted an ad-hoc committee set to engage youths, Civil Society Organizations
(CSOs) and different strands of leadership across the country has swung into
action. The interactions would touch issues around employment, social safety
nets, the security of life and property, national unity among others.
Finally,
for the youth not to be alienated, they must follow the words of the VP that
says “youths in the country should take their destinies in their hands by
taking up leadership roles through innovative ideas for they are the leaders of
tomorrow, they must be carried along in the affairs of our great country
Nigeria.”
