₦1.94 Trillion Worth of Property Saved in 2024, Says CG of FFS, Engr. Jaji O. Abdulganiyu

Enjoined Nigerians to adhere to fire safety protocols and precautions


The CG commiserated with the victims of Fire Outbreaks throughout the nation._


He urged the National Assembly to Repeal the Current Fire Service Act of 1963 which has become outdated while stating that President Tinubu remains committed to safeguarding the lives and properties of the people as aligned with his renewed hope agenda.


In 2024, the Federal Fire Service effectively saved property worth 1.94 trillion naira while fewer lives were lost when compared to the preceding year, 2023.


The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Engr. Abdulganiyu O. Jaji, has announced that in 2024, the Federal Fire Service successfully saved property valued at ₦1.94 trillion, while an estimated ₦67.1 billion worth of property was lost.




The DG made this known during the first media briefing of 2025, "In 2024, the Federal Fire Service effectively saved property worth 1.94 trillion naira while fewer lives were lost when compared to the preceding year, 2023."


The CG emphasised on the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Renewed Hope mandate to reposition, and strengthen the fire service, therefore urged the National Assembly to repeal the Fire Service Act of 1963 which has become obsolete.




"In line with the Renewed Hope agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR to further strengthen the fire service, i urge the National Assembly to facilitate the repeal and reenactment of the current Fire Service Act of 1963, which has become outdated. If this is achieved, it will reposition the service to enhance effective service delivery." 


Mr Jaji acknowledged the unprecedented policies and unmatched leadership of Hon. Minister of interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and his commitment to Renewed Hope agenda of Mr President. 


"Our success stories for the year 2024 will not be complete without giving accolades to the Honorable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, our game-changer, chief strategist, and the leader whose result-oriented policies has led to the positive and commendable results recorded thus far."


"The fire service owes a great debt to His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Honorable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, as well as the nation at large."


The CG of Fire Service enjoined Nigerians to adhere to fire safety protocols and precautions.


"Fire is a delicate and dynamic force that requires us to be cautious and vigilant. At this point, I employ all operators of fuel stations, petrol tankers, gas refilling stations, gas cylinder consumers and the general public to follow safety protocols and regulations."


The CG further assured the Abuja public of plans to establish fire stations in Lugbe, Maitama, Guzape, and other locations in 2025 to reduce response times to emergencies nationwide.
