#NigeriansCheatingNigerians with nationwide abundance of rice mills

#NigeriansCheatingNigerians with the abundance of rice mills and stone-free rice nationwide.  How producers and middlemen choose personal gains despite the federal government's economic support in the rice revolution, baffles me. Influenzas are proud of the unjustified hike we all bear, lets #EndUnpatriotism.

How federal government is reducing transportation cost

Image
Many have questioned the Federal Government’s reduction of levy on motor vehicles for the transportation of persons (cars) from 35% to 5%. They have called instead for prices of food items, petrol, electricity, etc to be reduced. Some have even said they have no cars and do not have any intentions of buying one, so why should the 30% slash excite them? Let me explain why this red u ction affects all of us and why it is a good thing. The reduction on duty to be paid on imported vehicles was influenced by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to check inflation brought on by the high cost of transportation. This high cost of transportation includes the transportation of food items and people. December is almost here and our transport operators in their usual style have begun hiking transport fares. When the Vice President was explaining the reduction, he said, “The point of the reduction in levies on motor vehicles, commercial vehicles for transportation is to reduce the cost of transportation by...

The youths window of opportunity with Governors and Osinbajo

Image
This week, youths across Nigeria will begin engagements/meetings with state governors and then Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and I am wondering what questions will they be asking? I remember when they made 5for5 demands, Osinbajo quickly ensured that all those demands were met in a National Economic Council meeting. He ordered governors to set up Judicial Panel of Inquiry, the Victims Fund and prosecution of erring police officers. In other to have an orderly engagement, the Vice President Osinbajo has developed and forwarded the engagement guidelines to Governors who will interface with the youths within a week.  It will go further to zonal engagements that include meetings with the community leaders. The youth will progress at all levels of governance in politics, religious organization, civil society and security agencies but they need to be guided in handling issues and recommend effective solutions towards strengthening national unity among others. The youths must seize this op...

The youths should take up leadership roles through Innovative Ideas

Image
In continuation of the process of reform of the police force, the VP made a firm the proportion for the integration of young people in the new take of repositioning society, he also noted that certainly, we cannot afford to alienate our young people who constitute the majority of our society.   Based on the fact that the VP believes that “Nigeria is blessed with an energetic and resourceful youth population that could partner global technology giants to excel in any field”, alienating youths who are over 60 per cent of the nation’s population would not be in the best interest of the nation.   Alienation is simply put as neglecting, alienation occurs when a person withdraws or becomes isolated from their environment or from other people. People who show symptoms of alienation will often reject loved ones or society, they may also show feelings of distance and estrangement.   Youth involvement in government, policymaking, innovation, creativity is the solution t...

Osinbajo on rebuilding Lagos

Image
Vice President Prof. Osinbajo on behalf of the Federal Government chaired the launching of funds raising for the Rebuild Lagos project. Osinbajo in his words stressed that the task of rebuilding Lagos must be a collective effort of Lagosians and all international friends of Lagos State. For those of us at the Lagos Trust Fund inauguration, it was far from the fanfare that some had claimed on social media, it was a sombre time. There were no laughs and there were no jokes. The only thing that stared us in the face were the grim images out of Lagos state. This event was not glamorous, in fact, it was the bringing together of donors and the inauguration of a Trust board that will ensure that Lagos is rebuilt after the destructions that followed the EndSARS protests. Osinbajo however encouraged everyone, saying that although we were in trying times, it provides us an invaluable learning opportunity, adding that lessons learnt from this period will help shape our paths going forward. One th...

Why Osinbajo is the right man to lead Lagos rebuilding

Image
Building public trust at this crucial time in Nigeria can be a Herculean task but if the government is going to get any shot at convincing the people otherwise, then Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has to be man to lead that line. This is not the first time the VP has led the Buhari administration's agenda to build public trust. Many might have forgotten but in 2015 shortly after the election, there was unrest in the Niger Delta and the militants were threatening to destroy pipelines and oil installations. Something needed to happen quickly. With the urgency and peculiarity of the issue, President Buhari sent Prof. Osinbajo to the region and he did not only quell the tension there, he brought prosperity to the region. The Ogoni Clean-Up that was a huge problem was resolved and clean up work began immediately. Then came the modular refineries. Since then, four modular refineries have become operational, employing thousands of people just like the Ogoni Clean-Up managed by HYPREP. This...

Nigeria getting it right with Alternative Business Dispute Resolution

Image
Not many things excites me in Nigeria nowadays especially with the COVID-19 pandemic  crumbling my business and that of many others with attendant restrictions and lockdown. Before COVID, we had been calling for an alternative resolution court for business related disputes. It is simply unhealthy for businesses to be held up by lingering court cases. I recall a friend once had a court battle with a commercial bank over repayment of loan, this case lasted like forever, the goods he imported was stuck and depreciating at the port because of court order, biko, what sense does that make? At the end, both parties lost, this is one of many cases I am privy to and I can tell you that none of the cases ended well. But when I saw that Prof. Osinbajo was setting up the Alternative Dispute Resolution for business, I was delighted ,because this is definitely the beginning of the end of long delayed court hearings, even though I don't know how it will be run, I'm just certain that this will ...

No visa guaranty for Nigerian asylum seeker

Image
In light of recent events, we have received great interest in Canadian immigration programs. Canadian Embassies, High Commissions, Consulates, Consulates General or Honorary Consulates do not accept refugee applications directly from people. Canada works with the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), other designated referral organizations and private sponsors to identify individuals in need of resettlement, and who are outside their home country. You cannot apply directly for resettlement. You must be referred to Canada by a designated referral organization or a private sponsor. Don't be fooled by rumours or false information online. No one can guarantee that your immigration application will be fast-tracked or approved. Only a Canadian migration officer can decide if you can come to Canada. All the information you need to apply to visit or immigrate to Canada is available free on the official Government of Canada website:   http://cic.gc.ca   For information about o...

BREAKING NEWS

Majority of Nigerians have now come forward to say that they’re tired of entering voicemail when they call their President o. They are no longer sure whether Mr. P has network service or even has a phone at all, and the few times he has picked their calls they say he doesn’t even sound like the one they voted for in 2015. Because of this they...sorry we, have now decided to direct our calls to the second man, Yemi Osinbajo, because at least this one shows that he can operate a phone and he’s not using Glo. So as Efe, your well-informed Warri guy i said let me update you people; to get your problems fixed within minutes (or some days as the case may be) dial 080YEMIOSINBAJO o.  Recharge your phone with plenty airtime o because obviously we get plenty problem!!

SORO SOKE WEREY

Nkiru and Hope were heading home after a TGIF with their office mates that had run late into the night. Their car broke down and no one would stop to help, save for a police patrol van. No sooner were they in the station where they were supposed to wait safely until they could get someone to pick them than the story flipped that they were street workers and promptly put behind the counter, before they posted bail the next morning, both ladies had been groped and sexually harassed on multiple occasions.   Tunji was just back from completing his masters in one of the international schools and he was picked up from the airport by Bosun his former classmate at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University. They were about exiting the Ikeja axis when they were accosted by men of the defunct SARS unit, whisked to an ATM and made to part away with thousands of Naira and some hard currency.   Hamza is a young entrepreneur at Sabo, but he was envied by his neighbour who bribed som...

Why is UN supporting Nigeria with $250m?

Image
Typically, the United Nations is very shrewd when it comes to supporting government projects across the world. The world body usually looks at people-oriented programmes before it commits. In the case of the N2.3 trillion Economic Sustainability Plan (ESP) initiated by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the UN did not waste any time in supporting the programme with $230 million.   The ESP is a coronavirus pandemic stimulus plan which President Muhammadu Buhari asked Prof. Osinbajo to execute. The plan seeks to impacts millions of Nigerians especially artisans, private schools, manufacturing/production sector, MSMEs and others.   Before the UN threw its weight behind the ESP, it needed to be sure that the grand plan put together by Osinbajo was properly executed. Where people receiving the money budgeted? Did they have to pay bribe? Did they have to know anyone in government? These were the questions the UN was looking at and in small measures all those questions have been...

Osinbajo wants more Nigerians to benefit from Germany

Image
For Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, improving Nigeria and Nigerians are his biggest worries. He believes that if the per capital income of Nigerians soar then there will be more opportunities, more job creation and more prosperity, for these reasons, he takes any opportunity available to promote his countrymen. This week at the 8th German-Nigerian Business Forum he told our German counterparts to give more Nigerians opportunity to benefit from the mutual relationship that exists between both countries. Pitching his country to Germans he explained that Nigerians have the population, technical know-how, expertise and brilliance to execute anything. He noted that Nigeria also has the resources to make it happen. As they listened to him, they began to crunch up the numbers. He assured them that he is doing all within his powers to ensure that the youths take their place in governance, business and in whatever carriers they choose. He noted again that he is the number one individual against p...

How to achieve timely recovery from COVID-19, by Osinbajo

Image
In dealing with the disruptions caused by COVID-19 on economies and livelihoods, stronger international cooperation and collaboration among countries will be crucial in addressing the situation and expediting economic recovery, according to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN.   Prof. Osinbajo stated this on Monday at the 8th German-Nigerian Business Forum which held virtually. The event featured presentations by representatives of the German and Nigerian business communities.                      Emphasizing the importance of building stronger collaboration and cooperation post-COVID-19, the Vice President said “as it turned out, the pandemic is no respecter of borders, and has forced us to ponder on the importance of collaboration and international cooperation in solving some of our most pressing problems”.   According to him, “2020 will probably go down as perhaps t...

Don’t compare today’s youths to Awolowo, Zik and Tafawa Balewa

Image
It saddens me when I see adults compare some of the youths we have around today to the likes of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikiwe and Tafawa Balewa. Some even say Gowon, Obasanjo, Buhari, etc all ruled Nigeria when they were young, so why can’t this generation do the same? I laugh when I read or hear such comparison, in fact, the comparison grew during the #EndSARS protests. Don’t get me wrong, no one is against the younger generation ruling this country but in all fairness they lack everything that Awo, Zik, Balewa and others had. These men engaged the British not by physical protests but by intellectual protests.  These men were philosophers in their own right, they had ideals, philosophy and a clear vision. These men contested the Clifford Constitution of 1922, the Richards constitution of 1945 until they pushed for independence. They achieved this Herculean task by outlining greater reasoning to the British. They showed time and over again that they know what they wanted to...

During the End SARS protests

During the End SARS protests @Mochievous (Module Odele) was in charge of Legal services and she was everywhere, and with the kind of money we now know was involved in the protests, it will be very safe to say she made alot of money from the exercise.  Now, after the Lekki toll gate incident and the crisis that followed with allegations of 'MASSACRE' of 78, 15, 12 protesters or whatever, a Judicial Panel of enquiry was set up. Even somebody born without brains should know that even if everybody else travels the Lawyer in charge of Legal Services on the side of the protesters must not.  She must be on ground to supervise for the Protesters. But what did we get? Boom! She got herself an Emirates Airlines BUSINESS CLASS ticket to MALDIVES for holidays.  Even without finishing the job she started. Yet some of you 'YOOTS' still don't realise you were been used by the so called 'YEYEBRITIES' and 'INFLUENZAS'?

Our Joe Biden, let’s make it happen

here are many similarities between the US President-Elect, Joe Biden and the present Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo but nothing shouts out than their zeal to want to unite and give people opportunities to succeed. As Vice President, they were both restricted by the constitutions of their country; they had to flow with the agenda of their bosses and they are both very loyal. When Biden was going to run for President, Obama was his number one surrogate and he aggressively campaigned for Biden in swing states like Michigan and Florida. Many in Nigeria would expect President Buhari to back and campaign for his deputy if he does declare for Presidency in 2023. As of now, Osinbajo has stayed away from politics of 2023 and has concentrated on his job. He has tried to ensure that #EndSARS protesters are given the justice they demand because they are not only citizens of Nigeria but they are the future of Nigeria. He directed governors of the 36 states and the Minister of F...

Osinbajo call on Governors to keep working with the youths

Image
Governors representating Nigeria six geopolitical zones should interact with youths at all levels. i. Engage representatives of Youths, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and others, Political, Religious and Traditional leaders on employment and social safety net programmes among other issues. ii. Engage with the Security Agencies and develop ways of delivering more control to State Governors who are the Chief Security Officers of their States; iii. Recommend effective solutions to the rising divisiveness and propose ways of strengthening national unity; iv. Develop a framework for the coordination of action steps to be taken by both the Federal and State Governments in response to the fundamental issues underlying the EndSARs Protests; v. Co-opt and or invite any individual or Corporate body that may facilitate the work of the Committee; and vi. Report to Council with such recommendations as may be considered appropriate.
