Seven Key Promises: Nigerians Laud Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-ojo
Nigeria’s Interior Minister, Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has earned applause from Nigerians over his highlighted seven promises that would transform the Ministry of Interior and its agencies.
Highlighting the promises, a prominent blog, Instablog listed the minister’s agenda with many reacting to his proactive agenda.
The seven key promises are, “a.) Development of technology to enhance border security; b.) Removal of bottlenecks in the acquisition of passports and other immigration documents; c.) Tackling insecurity and effective protection of critical national assets and infrastructures; and d.) Ensuring the timely passage of the New Fire Act.
Other promises are, e.) Correctional service reforms (Reformation and re-integration of inmates and decongestion of correctional centers in line with AGJS and so on); f.) Improved emergency and fire response time and g.) Provision of quality leadership for the timely actualization of the mandates of the Ministry of Interior in line with the Renewed Hope agenda.”
Explaining his thinking behind the promises, the minister talked about the harmonisation of national identity using the SPOC mechanism, “We will ensure there is a single point of contact (SPOC), which is complete integration, harmonisation and management of national identity as a major means of crime mitigation, control, and national development,” Tunji-Ojo said.
Reacting to the promises, Bifixit technology_ng said, “We know him (Tunji-Ojo), he is Mr. less talk, more action. He is tech savvy and he’s bringing on board a rich background in tech that will drive innovation in the Ministry of Interior, the renewed hope is here” he concludes.
Similarly, saniabraham854 noted “Congratulations to minister and ministry of interior. The long-awaited transformation has finally arrived. A true leader per excellence.
For Olasunkanmimii “Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo is a class act, If you want to know how well he keeps his promises, go to Akoko in Ondo state and ask about him, he is innovative, intelligent, smart, and a good leader.”
Mona_lisa_perry noted that “Honorable Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo’s achievements are veritable, he has invested in the education of young children, empowered women, delivered standard infrastructural amenities like roads, transformers, solar power, boreholes for his constituent, and as a chairman House committee on NDDC, he executed NDDC HQ from start to finish, putting to stop yearly renting of apartments by the commission.”
While Calebmgbah argued, “I understand you as a goal-getter and previous feats speak for you, I’m looking forward to the rehabilitation plans for our correctional facilities nationwide.”
“It’s said that a prophet has no regard in his own home but they missed the memo in Akoko, Ondo State, where this son of the soil is revered for his humility and dedication to bringing smiles to the faces of average citizens,” Ojokolax wrote.
Chronicle NG reports that Tunji-Ojo is one of the 45 ministers appointed by President Bola Tinubu and approved by the senate.
