Kperogi’s false claims on Osinbajo

By Fejiro Johnson For one who prides himself as a “professor, journalist, newspaper columnist, author, that earned a Master of Science degree in communication and Ph.D. in communication,’ Farooq Kperogi should know better. One can say Kperogi has rightly earned his stripes as an academic. But attempting to amplify fake news and falsehood on any platform is definitely another low for someone who has a PHD in communications! Kperogi claimed in his article “Pantami is My Friend, But He Can’t Be Defended” he published on Saturday, April 17, that “Yemi Osinbajo, for instance, has been accused of being an intolerant, narrow-minded Christian extremist who wallows in his Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) bubble, who employs only Yoruba people who belong to the RCCG…” Mr. Kperogi must have penned these in a blur of incomprehension as this is acutely inaccurate. He did not hide his unfounded bias when he went further in his attempt to rehash false claims on Osinbajo in his follow-up articl...

The Osinbajo we know by EKitiKetekan

Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria's Vice President is a man of many good virtues. Many have attested his good virtues including elites like traditional leaders (emirs, obas, obis), captains of industry, religious leaders, political leaders, and the citizens (women, men, youths, and children). Osinbajo pays attention to details, example was how he discovered the P&ID fraud against Nigeria, and also how he discovered that Saraki led senate and Dogara led house of assembly increased the budget of 2017 from N7.28 trillion to N7.44 trillion. Another attribute he posesses is his responsiveness, take for example his visit to Maiduguri in Borno state less than 24 hours after a terrorist attack. Also his visits to Benue, Ebonyi and Imo after farmers and herdsmen clashes and a communal clashes. He is very proactive. I recall when he directed the then Chief Of Army Staff and other Service Chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri with immediate effect to lead the fight against terrorism. Osinbajo is...

Kperogi's skewed reasoning and the RCCG directorate

By Ezechukwu Christian Labelling Farooq Kperogi a journalist is nothing but ridicule to the noble profession. You cannot be a journalist when all you spew is lies and fake news. He has no sense of duty to carry out basic fact checking. Even an 100 level student at the Nigeria Institute of Journalism will do better than Farroq, no wonder all the students that have passed through him at Kennesaw State University have come to nought. Away from the questionable character to his ludicrous attempt to tell everyone and every organisation what to do and how to do it. His latest rant was a hole-riddled, pre-school outburst directed at the Redeeemed Christian Church of God and the decision of the church to set up a Directorate of Politics. As it is with fickle-minded folks like Kperogi, this was done mainly because of the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo. You will recall that Kperogi and his minnions have said that APC will not zone its presidential ticket to the Southwest, so on what platform will...

Why a Muslim-Muslim ticket is still a no-no

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, there has been speculation that one of the leading candidate of the All Progressives Congress and former Governor of Lagos may be planning a Muslim-Muslim ticket.  Although, it is not clear yet since the the ruling party is yet to host its primary election. The election will reveal its running mate.  This is against the tradition that has been long upheld in Nigeria's political radar where the President and vice are always of different faith to create a balance.  A lot of political pundits have argued that the criterion for electing leaders shouldn't be by religion but by competency. This means that, whether the president and running mate be of the same faith, it shouldn't be an issue but the focus should be how qualified they are.  On the other hand, many believe that Nigeria is a multiethnic and largely a dual religious country where people of both faith should represent the two top leadership positions in the country. President...

Much Ado about RCCG Politics Directorate

Every now and then, when there is a national issue of discourse, some respectable persons make commentaries that make you laugh off your chair. This is the case with the announcement that RCCG, one of the biggest Pentecostal movements in the world was setting up a Directorate of Politics. Expectedly, Farooq Kperogi, a supposed professor jumped on the subject matter, exuding high octane level of ignorance laced with crass insolence and naivety. For those who have been unfortunate to stumble on the garbage Kperogi writes, his latest gibberish on RCCG will come as no surprise. I somehow pity the students at Kennesaw University where he allegedly teaches, I hope for the sake of humanity he follows the curriculum and not pass on his skewed mentality. As for Dele Momodu, the founder of Ovation Magazine, he is a turncoat of the highest order. Having garnered one vote at his polling unit at his first shot, he has decided that propaganda, half-truth and ill research submissions will at least ge...

Why A Muslim-Muslim Ticket Is Dead On Arrival

I have listened to many arguments about Nigeria’s political future in the past, many more recently as we draw closely towards another election year, and given our very disparate reasoning as humans capable of independent thought, there are many of these promulgations I personally find ludicrous.  One that stands out among these is the reasoning that both most significant offices in the nation can be occupied by individuals of the same religious orientation. Now I do not argue for myself, I am not a very religious person and I care very little about what gods our political leaders pray to as long as we get results. However, an average Nigerian sees and thinks differently, especially since we are a nation of remarkably diverse setup.  The most notable problem with a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket is the issue of representation. In this I find a tenable argument; with Nigeria being a country comprised of over 200 million people split approximately into 380 ethnic groups who ho...
