We are studying your humility and grace, Emir of Gombe tells Osinbajo
The Emir of Gombe has told Vice President Yemi Osinbajo that they are learning from his humility and grace to lead.
Prof Osinbajo was on Tuesday in Gombe State to grace the 27th edition of the MSME Clinics.
The Clinic, like previous editions in 26 States of the country, assembled relevant government agencies under one roof to provide on the spot solutions to bottlenecks encountered by MSMEs. These agencies include but are not limited to the Bank of Agriculture (BOA); the Bank of Industry (BoI); the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC); Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN); the Federal Inland Revenue Service and NAFDAC.
He was accompanied on his visit by the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Technology, Isa Ali Pantami.
He began his tour with a stop at the Emir’s palace where the Vice President was treated to a hero’s welcome.
The monarch, Emir of Gombe, Alhaja Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, spoke glowingly of Osinbajo, stating in his address that he has done well presiding over the nation’s economic council.
The Emir was quoted saying, “Your visit today affirms the commitment of the federal government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari and the support that you give our people.
“I would like to commend the federal government for its compelling efforts towards the economic development of our people especially in the area of agriculture and small-scale businesses. Gombe is an agrarian state and also a hub of trade and commerce in the northeast. I believe what you see today will avail you the opportunity to see firsthand, the impact and nature of our people and the numerous successes of our businesses. We are on board with the National Livestock Transformation Plan which you chair.”
“Your presence here today is in line with your role as the “economic driver” of the country. Through your role as the chairman of the National Economic Council, you have spearheaded important reforms in the area of ease of doing business, enhancing ICT innovation, as well as economic policies to reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. “This demonstrates your own role in the Buhari administration and a lot of confidence that Mr. President reports on you. “We in the north are closely following your steady achievements; first as a successful legal professor, a religious leader, and now as the vice president of Nigeria.”
The monarch concluded his address saying, “We are studying your humility and grace; we appreciate you and we pray for more success in your journey.”
The Vice President in his own remarks, spoke extensively about the importance of a united Nigeria, explaining that those praying for the country's success and growth are far greater in number than those praying for the break up of Nigeria.
He said, “This country will remain one. Those praying for Nigeria's break up will not succeed because those praying against such are much in number."
