Pa Adebanjo and the restructuring narrative

Pa Adebanjo has been one of the leading advocates for restructuring in Nigeria. In most of his interviews, he has called for it, sometimes advocating for a return to regionalism. While Pa Adebanjo’s yearnings are valid and are the wishes of many, the elder statesman often fails to give credit where credit is due. He often attacks the Buhari administration even threatening that there will be no 2023 if there is no restructuring in Nigeria. The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is also a subject of Pa Adebanjo’s attacks but as students of history, it is a burden upon us to state categorically that Osinbajo has been a serious advocate of restructuring, not just by mouth but by actions. People have different views about restructuring Nigeria, so I will try and break it down. Restructuring basically means to organize differently. So in Nigeria's case, it is for certain things to be done differently.  Many political elites and advocates of restructuring want certain things done differe...

No Evidence On Alleged Lekki Massacre Says US Government

Image
The United State Department of Justice’s report on the alleged shooting that took place on October 20, 2020 at Lekki toll gate in Lagos State explains that there is “no accurate information on fatalities resulting from the shooting”. In its report titled, ‘Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for 2020’, the US said conflicting reports from Lekki toll gate has made it impossible to have accurate information on the incident. According to the DOJ, two persons were killed in connection to the protests that took place in Lagos with one of the killing purportedly happening in Lekki but not necessarily at the toll gate. “There were reports that the government or its agents committed arbitrary, unlawful, or extrajudicial killings,” the US DOJ said in its report. “At times authorities sought to investigate, and when found culpable, held police, military, or other security force personnel accountable for the use of excessive or deadly force or for the deaths of persons in custody, but impun...

The hypocrites and fools paradise

It is a fact that Kanu, a former IPOB Leader, supported GEJ in 2015 and on the verge of 2019 election, he asked his supporters to support Atiku, also of the PDP. It is on record that Igboho supported GEJ and Atiku in 2015 and 2019 respectively too and went to campaign for the PDP in the recent Kogi Elections.  It is on record that "Afenifere" supported PDP in 2015 and 2019 and they openly declared so. It is on record that Gumi, Oyedepo and Kukah were the religious leaders who were reconciling the two PDP leaders Obj and Atiku before the elections of 2019. Oyedepo also attempted to reconcile OBJ and GEJ in 2015. For any hypocrite to say the current noise from some pestilence is not political is to lock oneself perpetually in fools paradise and throw the keys into the Atlantic!

Nigerians say they will vote Buhari a third time rather than Yahaya Bello

Nigeria’s next presidential election is in 2023, which means there are still two years before the poll. Politicians interested in the presidential seat have started building alliances throughout regions, with campaign posters already flying all over and meetings holding with elder statesmen and Godfathers. One of the politicians gearing up for the race is the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, declaring his interest in becoming President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor come 2023. TheNationNews tweeted that Governor Yahaya Bello’s posters have flooded Delta, Bayelsa and Port Harcourt States. However, the tweet generated a lot of negative comments. FAKE NEWS ALERT: The Vice President never made any derogatory comments against IPOB and the Fulani herdsmen clashes

Image
VP Osinbajo has never made any statement threatening that IPOB must be “crushed by fire by thunder.” It is not even in the character of the VP to make such statement or the manner in which it was said. The alleged statement is all lies. The Vice President has always called on all Nigerians to unite and build this country. Osinbajo is concerned about the security of lives of all Nigerians and ensuring that security agencies protect all Nigerians. Nigerians, please ignore the fake news mongers and lie merchants! Below are ACTUAL statements from the VP on these issues. ON IPOB “In all our previous engagements with Northern and South-Eastern leaders, we all came to the consensus that Nigeria is stronger and better together.” - VP Prof. Osinbajo   ON FULANI HERDSMEN KILLINGS: “We must condemn killings of any kind. It doesn’t matter whether these killings are by herdsmen killing villagers, or whether it is villagers who in one way or the other have killed others, including herdsmen....
