VP Osinbajo Virtually Lauches 1.12MW Solar Hybrid Power In ATBU, Bauchi

The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo earlier today presented a remark at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Solar Project Launch.

The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi officially plugged onto a mini-grid power plant designed to sufficiently serve the students and staff members of the institution.

The VP in his remark said ‘’This is yet another mile stone in the Energising Education programme, the objective of the programme is that all 37 Federal Universities and 7 teaching hospitals will be provided with captive energy solution that will ensure sustainable and reliable power for students and faculties.’’

According to the VP, about 22,000 students and faculties are connected to completed projects in Kano, Ebonyi, Benue and now Bauchi state.

The renewable energy in the institution will have a training centre that will provide training for students on renewable energy which also entails streetlights, electro-fittings of existing ones for better illumination and provision of security on the campus and its environs, the VP noted.

On renewable job creation, the VP said, ‘‘About 20 female students are undergoing training in the beneficiary institutions, which focuses on design and installation.’’

In addition, the VP reaffirms the Federal Government’s commitment to global best practice as the country transitions to cleaner sources of energy in line with the Paris agreement on climate change.
