STAY SAFE ON SOCIAL MEDIA

We care about the safety about your accounts and have decided to bring you useful tips and information on the top tricks and techniques used by hackers to steal your information or hack into your facebook account making you lose all access to your information.
Please know that once you lose your account, hackers can use your information in cases of identity theft and of course sell your account for other dubious reasons.
Below are some of the techniques used:
Phishing:
This is one of the most popular methods used.
A fake facebook login page appears when a link is sent to you.
The hacker gets your username and password stored on a text file and will use the information to log in to your account.
Easily detect this by looking at the address on your browser links bar.
It should contain facebook.com

Key-logging:
Its usually a small program installed in your computer and it records all you type and sends the information to the hacker through an email.
Avoid this by installing only software directly from the vendors. If using a third party please check the website for malware or spyware.
Stealer's:
Stealer software will grab all the stored information on your browsers.
Constantly check for spyware/malware on your devices with antivirus software programs
Session Hijacking:
Access facebook only through secure connections (https) not (http).
session hijacking is where the attacker steals your cookies on the same network and uses it to authenticate and access your account.
If you use public networks especially free wifi access or browsing from a pub such as cybercafés, please take note and avoid unsecure connections (http).
Mobile Phone Hacking:
Yes your mobile phone can be hacked using some of these apps Mobile Spy, and Spy Phone Gold.
These apps can monitor your device activities and put you in trouble.
Also ensure you make a change of phone numbers in your fb settings if you no longer have access to a phone number connected to your facebook account. This will help keeping your account secure as the person in possession of that number can use the number to access your account and steal your information. This is not just useful for facebook, its useful life saving hack for even your bank accounts. When you lost a phone number or decide to stop using a phone number go to your bank and request to change your number. If you are on internet banking you can easily do that using your banking app given by your bank.
DNS Spoofing:
If both the victim and attacker are on the same network, an attacker can use a DNS spoofing attack and change the original Facebook page to his own fake page and hence can get access to victims Facebook account.
USB Hacking:
If an attacker has physical access to your computer, he could just insert a USB programmed with a function to automatically extract saved passwords in the Internet browser.
Ensure you have total control over your devices.
Actions to take:
Use 2-factor authentication.
Log out all other active sessions.
Clear your browser cookies and cache.
Avoid storing passwords on your browsers often.
Scan your devices for viruses.

If your account is hacked just visit www.fb.com/hacked and use the options given to attempt to recover your facebook account.

Stay safe!
