Sexual offenders should be visited with the strictest possible consequences

WE REJECT NOTION THAT SEXUAL HARASSMENT VICTIMS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ABUSE, SAYS OSINBAJO *Adds: “offenders should be visited with the strictest possible consequences” The notion that victims or potential victims of sexual harassment are architects of their fate especially by their attitude, dressing, or willingness to be in a compromising place with their violators is wrong and should be resisted in every situation. The victim must always be seen as the victim and not to be blamed. This was the views of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, in his contributions on Wednesday at a webinar on Anti-Sexual Harassment themed “Finding Safe Spaces for Female Students in Nigerian Universities”, organized by the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife. The event was based on the book authored by notable journalist and former presidential spokesman, Mr Olusegun Adeniyi, titled NAKED ABUSE: SEX FOR GRADES IN AFRICAN UNIVERSITIES. According to him, “the victim must always be seen as the victim. There ...

WISDOM OF FOOLS 2

You are a rich Man. You refused to assist the poor. They become thieves and robbers. They break into your house, rob and kill you.  You are a voter. You are bribed with T-shirts, Caps, Rice that they once lied to you isn't fit for human consumption and some times #500 cash to accompany the 'bounties'. You vote in a thug. Services goes down. You complain for four (4) years and elect again for second term.  I can go on and on and on.... The question however is how much longer can this continue. Just remember that each and every breath takes us closer to our appointment with death. And we ain't taking a single dime to the great beyond.

Like Saul and David, Like Buhari and Osinbajo

The story of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is similar to that of King Saul and David on many fronts. In 2014, Prof. Osinbajo was going about his business and was not scheming to become Vice President but God had picked him. He had anointed him, like he anointed David while he was tending to his father’s flock.  The Vice President was also tending to his father’s flock in Lagos at the Redeemed Christian Church of God. Like David, he too was surprised that he had been anointed but because he knows the God that he serves he humbly accepted. Since then, his story has even become more similar, almost a mirror of David’s life. In 1 Samuel 24-28, David had the chance to kill Saul but he didn’t because Saul was God’s anointed. This was similar to when Osinbajo was acting President and many people pushed him to take Buhari’s throne but he rebuked them.  Instead he continued to do is work waiting for his boss’ return to Nigeria. And when his boss returned h...

ON AUGUST 12, 20201:42 AMIN NEWS A former ex-militant leader and Co-ordinator of the National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators, NCNDE-A, Eshanakpe Israel, has asked Timi Frank, to show respect and decency on national issues and personalities around the political terrain noting that he was overreaching himself and be called to order by his kinsmen. Eshanakpe stated this in Abuja on Tuesday against the backdrop of the call by Frank, for the sack of the Group Managing Director, GMD, of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mele Kyari, over an alleged missing $2.5bn. An online medium had reportedly alleged that the sum of $2.5bn proceeds of crude oil sold recently to China was not remitted to the Federal Government account on the premise of which the Ijaw-born activist based his call for the sack of the GMB. Eshanakpe noted that Frank has no limit for misleading unsuspecting members of the public, noting that his call for the sack of the GMD, was misinformed and a calcula...
